Note (General)：: 北島遺跡は、利根川と荒川に挟まれた熊谷扇状地の扇端部に形成された自然堤防上に立地する。第25 次調査では、古墳時代中期から平安時代の集落跡が検出された。古墳時代では畠跡も検出されており、僅かな高低差を利用した当時の土地利用の状況が明らかになった。
