Note (General): 本調査地点は周知の遺跡である西原大塚遺跡の範囲に属し、埼玉県志木市幸町３丁目に位置する。　本遺跡は、柳瀬川を北西に望む武蔵野台地北東端の野火止台に立地しており、本調査は、コミュニティ機能を持つ複合施設建設に伴う事前調査である。　調査の結果、縄文時代中期前半の住居跡や、弥生時代後期～古墳時代前期の住居跡が検出され、遺物は縄文時代の土器・石器や弥生時代後期～古墳時代前期の土器が出土した。　縄文時代中期前半の住居跡が検出されたことによって、本遺跡で見つかっている環状集落の広がりを確認できる。弥生時代後期～古墳時代前期の住居跡は、本遺跡で確認されている拠点的集落の資料を追認できる資料を提示する。
