Note (General): 遺跡は日田盆地東部の三隈川右岸に広がる沖積微高地に位置する。本遺跡は今回の調査を含め、3次（箇所）にわたる調査が行われており、弥生時代中期後半から古代に至る密集度の高い集落と墳墓群で構成される遺跡であることが明らかとなっている。　3次調査では、これまで確認されてこなかった古墳時代後期の遺構が確認されたことで、この集落が継続的に営まれていたこと、また、これまでの調査で確認されてきた墳墓群が発見されなかったことで、墓域の南限を想定することができた。
