Note (General): 当地は標高約28m の台地上に位置する。出土遺物は、古墳時代後期・古代から中・近世に至っており、複合遺跡の様相を呈している。主な遺構は平安時代の竪穴建物跡で、従来の調査を加えると40 棟を超えることから、古代の拝師郷に相当するものと思われる。また、断面Ｖ字状を呈する薬研堀の出土は、これまで知られていなかった中世の居館の存在を示しており、今後の調査の進展が期待される。
