本遺跡は、武蔵野台地北東端の赤羽台に立地する。今回は第VI 次調査となる。調査の結果、縄文時代から近世に亘る遺構が検出され、これらの時期の遺物が出土した。縄文時代では、早期後葉に形成された炉穴が1 群、遺物を多量に含んだ土坑が検出された。覆土からは子母口式土器が出土しており、それらの遺構が子母口式土器期の遺構である可能性が高いものと思われる。古墳時代では遺物のみが出土したが、今まで行なわれた調査成果との関連がうかがえる。古代は住居跡が1 軒検出され、出土遺物の様相から第IV 次調査で設定された時間軸である、IV・V 期、8世紀中葉～末葉の住居跡であると想定される。この住居跡からは「馬廿」（人名か？）と記された墨書土器、金属製品では刀子が出土した。中世も遺物のみが出土した。近世は畑畝跡と溝状遺構が検出され、第IV 次調査で検出された溝と繋がる可能性が高く、当事の土地区画の様相をさらに明らかにした。　また当地は明治～戦前まで旧日本陸軍被服本廠、終戦後は米軍の車両修理工場の敷地であり、これらに関連する遺構や遺物が検出されている。その概要については付編として掲載した。
