Note (General): 調査地点を含む周辺は、海浜であった環境を近世のはじめ（17 世紀中葉）に埋立造成した土地で、近世を通して尾張藩徳川家の築地屋敷（蔵屋敷）として使用された。明治維新後の明治３年（1870）には周辺の旧武家地と共に海軍省の敷地になり、海軍省をはじめ各種施設が設置されたが、大正12 年（1923）9 月1 日の関東大震災により被災すると、復興計画の一環として跡地に東京中央卸売市場が誘致・建設され、昭和10 年（1935）に開場した。　調査地点は、近世の蔵屋敷・近代の海軍省軍用地の南東部にあたり、近世の泉水兼舟入・近代の船着場の東岸から、江戸湊・東京湾との境となる敷地東辺にかけて、横断するように調査した。主な検出遺構は、船着場の護岸施設（板柵）と海側敷地東辺の護岸施設（石垣）である。また、泉水・舟入の岸辺であり、廃棄物の投棄場に利用された湿地を検出した。
