Note (General): 平尾台南東の観音山の東麓から舌状にのびる谷底平野（標高20ｍ前後）に立地する。　主に弥生時代から古墳時代に至る、遺構、遺物を検出したが、弥生時代中期から古墳時代前期に盛期を認められる。　集落を形成する遺構は竪穴建物、掘立柱建物、墓（甕棺墓）、土坑（貯蔵穴を含む）、溝などがあり、一緒に調査を行ったⅡ区に広がる。　出土遺物は弥生土器、古式土師器、土師器、須恵器、打製石鏃、磨製石斧、石庖丁、磨製石剣、砥石、鉄鏃などで、大半は弥生時代中期から古墳時代前期に位置づけられる。　近隣で調査を行った入覚大原遺跡や下崎丸山遺跡、東に２kmの地点に広がる延永ヤヨミ園遺跡などと同時期の集落遺跡で、当該期の京都平野の集落構造を考える上で重要な遺跡である。
