Note (General): 平成30年度の本調査の隣接地の発掘調査となる。過去の開墾時の削平により、包含層はほとんど失われているが、半地下式のカマドや床面等の出土遺物、炭化材などを含む竪穴建物跡が４棟、竪穴状遺構19棟、炭焼き土坑などが見つかった。前回調査の火山灰テフラの分析に加え、土器の年代等から遺跡の時期を推定した結果、946年と想定される白頭山噴火を軸に、9世紀後半までは確実に遡る時期に活動が見られた集落遺跡と想定される。竪穴建物跡出土の鉄滓の自然科学分析から、在地の砂鉄を使用した集落内での小規模な鉄生産が行われていたことが分かる。前回の発掘調査と合わせ、集落内の建物配置の変遷も読み取れる。屏風山丘陵で発掘調査の空白域を埋める貴重な成果を得ることが出来た。
