Note (General)：: 米田水塚群第１号塚では，江戸時代から明治時代にかけての水塚１基，礎石建物跡３棟を確認した。取手市は利根川と小貝川に囲まれており，昔から治水対策に取り組んできた。今回の調査によって，水塚の構築方法や礎石建物跡の基礎部の地業方法など，防災遺構として築かれた水塚の基礎構造の一端が明らかになった。
