Note (General): 小林八束１遺跡・小林八束２遺跡は、埼玉県菖蒲町の菖蒲町役場の南側に造られた調節池の東に位置する。周辺は、星川、野通川、元荒川を初めとする大小の河川や用水が南東方向に流れ、肥沃な水田地帯を形成している。遺跡付近は北側を流れる星川によっ形成された後背湿地にあたり、その下には埋没ローム台地があり、その台地上に縄文時代早期・後期、古墳時代前期の集落跡が形成されている。小林八束1 遺跡では縄文時代後期の住居跡２軒、土坑７基が検出され、第4 号住居跡から筒型土偶が出土した。また、古墳時代前期の住居跡10 軒・方形周溝墓３基のほか炭焼窯・土壙・溝などが検出された。古墳時代前期に、集落廃絶後に墓域へと変遷していくことが確認された。小林八束２遺跡では縄文時代の炉穴が29 基検出され、縄文時代早期の土器が出土した。その他に多数の土壙を検出し、一部の土壙からも縄文時代早期の土器が出土した。
