Note (General): 市域唯一の古墳とされていた普賢寺古墳に近接して、5世紀後半の古墳を新たに1基検出した。南西部に造出部が付く円墳で、くびれ部から須恵器や多くの埴輪がまとまって出土した。埴輪には円筒埴輪・朝顔形埴輪のほか、蓋・家・盾・人物・鳥・馬などの形象埴輪が含まれている。 12世紀中頃から15世紀の集落を検出した。古墳の周溝も利用した排水・干拓用の水路がめぐり、二面廂の大型掘立柱建物や溝で囲まれた方形区画が築かれている。出土遺物には瓦、五輪塔・宝篋印塔などの石製品、香炉や四耳壺など輸入磁器のほか、銅製の密教法具蓋など、寺院に関わる遺物が多く出土している。
