Note (General): 旧河道に挟まれた微高地上に遺構が形成され、弥生時代以降の生活痕跡が確認できる。特筆すべき成果として、古墳時代後期の２×３間の総柱建物が２棟並んだ状態で検出された。同時期の県内の事例を見ても規模、配置や付属施設の点で突出する。また、古代には遺跡北端で大溝が検出される。７世紀末～８世紀の遺物が多く出土し、県内でも珍しい古代の文字資料である木簡をはじめとした多くの木製品が出土した。そのほか、官衙の存在を示唆するような遺物も多く出土している。
