Note (General): 西原大塚遺跡は、縄文時代中期の環状集落や弥生時代後期～古墳時代前期の集落跡を主体とする遺跡である。今回は第231地点の調査成果を収録している。　本地点では、縄文時代の土坑3基・ピット1本、弥生時代後期～古墳時代前期の住居跡4軒・溝跡1本、中世の柵列状遺構2条・ピット29本などが検出された。特に弥生時代後期末葉～古墳時代初頭の44号溝跡（44Ｍ）については、構造及び周辺の調査成果により、環濠の一部と考えられる。中世では、東西方向に溝状に延びる2条の畝が確認できたが、内部及び周囲にピットが伴うものと判断し、これらを中世の柵列状遺構と捉えることとした。
