Note (General): 林ノ脇遺跡は、道の駅よこはまの東隣、三保川右岸の標高25 ～ 27ｍの段丘上に立地し、遺跡の南端は三保川の谷底平野に臨む急崖となっている。令和元年度に当センターが発掘調査を行っており、縄文時代早期前葉の土坑と遺物集中地点、縄文時代中期後葉～後期前葉の溝状土坑、弥生時代後期の竪穴建物跡の他、平安時代の竪穴建物跡を多数検出した。　今回は前回調査区の北側に接する部分を調査し、縄文時代の溝状土坑と平安時代の竪穴建物跡や大型の溝跡を検出した。また、縄文時代の土器・石器、平安時代の土師器・須恵器・石器・鉄製品・鉄滓などが出土した。　今回の調査から、縄文時代の狩猟場が三保川の岸際からさらに遺跡の北側に広がっていたことが判明した。平安時代では、集落の北端が明らかになった。集落の境界を示す溝跡に見られた屈曲は、東北町赤平（３）遺跡や八戸市沢里山遺跡でも検出されている。３遺跡の溝跡（壕跡）は形状・規模ともにほぼ同じで、地域間を結ぶネットワークの存在が推測される。
