Note (General): 丈六横穴墓群・丈六古墳群は、高瀬川南岸の独立丘陵上に所在する。現在、丘陵には丈六公園があり、市民の憩いの場になっている。丘陵尾根部に古墳群、尾根東端の県道に沿った斜面に横穴墓群が分布しており、古墳群は３つある尾根筋にそれぞれ数基がまとまっている。　今回の調査は、県道落合浪江線沿いの丘陵東端部を対象として、新規発見の横穴墓２基の発掘調査を行った。新規発見の横穴墓のうち、５号横穴墓は玄室が残されており、床面から勾玉１点が出土した。６号横穴は「つくりかけ」の横穴墓と考えられる。この他、後背墳丘とみられる15号墳や横穴墓を結ぶ通路とみられる１号溝跡も検出された。遺構の重複関係から、横穴墓と同時に機能していたと考えられる。
