Note (General): 平清水Ⅰ遺跡・平清水Ⅱ遺跡は、十府ヶ浦海岸に流れ込む明内川右岸の段丘に立地し、現在、段丘上を東西に走る2級村道中平上明内線を挟んで、南側を平清水Ⅰ遺跡、北側を平清水Ⅱ遺跡として分けられている。明内川左岸の低い段丘には、平清水Ⅲ遺跡が立地する。　今回の調査で、平清水Ⅱ遺跡の範囲の北側に沿って南西から北東方向に延びる尾根を中心に集落が形成されていることが分かった。平清水Ⅱ遺跡は、平成13・14年度にも調査が行われ、縄文時代前期末葉から中期前葉を主体とする集落跡が確認されていた。今回確認された遺構も、連続する尾根上から南斜面に形成された一連の集落跡と推測される。　縄文時代前期末葉から中期前葉の集落は、竪穴住居跡とフラスコ状土坑から構成される。フラスコ状土坑からは、前期末葉（円筒下層ｄ1式土器）がまとまって出土したものもある。集落が形成される前後の時期には、より広い範囲に狩り場が設けられていた。前期前葉の陥し穴状遺構は円形や楕円形である。中期以降の陥し穴状遺構は溝状である。
