Note (General): [笹子城跡要約] 　戦国時代、真里谷武田氏一族の居城と推測される木更津市笹子城跡は、小櫃川左岸支流により開析された谷津内に舌状に突出した、標高70ｍ前後の丘陵に占地する。高速道路建設に伴い、城域の約1/10に相当する北端部（標高22ｍ〜44ｍ）を調査した。平場15面・空堀21条の他、ピット群（掘立柱建物跡）・竪穴建物跡・土坑等が密集して検出され、城の改造によって多くの面が形成された。遺物は、15世紀後半〜17世紀初頭（主体は15世紀後半〜16世紀前半）の大量の陶磁器類や石塔類が出土したことかも合わせると、家臣団屋敷を含む城下集落が考えられる。なお、近世初頭の軍記物『笹子落草紙』では、一族の内紛に北条氏・里見氏も絡み、1543年に落城したと伝えられるが、以降の遺物も存在し、正木氏の伝承も残ることから、里見氏系の城として機能したことも想像できる
