Note (General): 【第98次調査】第Ⅰ・Ⅱ期の外郭西辺区画施設の把握、第Ⅲ・Ⅳ期の区画施設の構造と年代の再検討を目的として実施し、以下の成果を得た。 ① 外郭西辺区画施設として材木塀を検出し、A ～ Cの３時期の変遷を確認した。これらの年代は第Ⅲ～Ⅳ期で、B期の材木塀には櫓とみられる掘立柱建物が伴う。第Ⅰ・Ⅱ期に遡る区画施設は確認できなかった。 ② C期の材木塀の掘方埋土が灰白色火山灰を含むことを確認し、今回の調査地点ではC期の構築が火山灰降下後であることが明らかとなった。【第99次調査】第96次調査で検出したSB3465掘立柱建物の規模と構造の把握を主な目的として実施し、以下の成果を得た。 ① 建物は切土と整地層による造成を伴って構築されており、東に廂が付く南北６間、東西３間の南北棟であることが判明した。年代は780年以降～９世紀前葉頃の第Ⅲ期である。 ②竪穴遺構の内部で５基の鍛冶炉を確認した。年代は第Ⅲ期である。 ③過去の調査成果と合わせて、第Ⅲ期以降に政庁北側の区域が活発に利用される状況が明らかになった。
