Note (General): 北野遺跡は標高14ｍ前後の中位段丘上に位置する。調査の最大の成果は6世紀から8世紀後半までの土師器を生産した土師器焼成坑が225基もみつかったことであり、一つの遺跡での発見例としては全国で最大である。また、土師器生産に伴う施設として粘土溜・竪穴住居・掘立柱建物・廃棄土坑なども確認されている。また、弥生時代中期から古墳時代前期後葉の竪穴住居・掘立柱建物・方形周溝墓などもみつかっている。集落の本格的な形成は弥生時代後期からで終末期まで継続される。後期の集落は遺跡の東部に集中する傾向にあり、西部では終末期の集落が形成される。調査では大量の遺物が出土しており、本冊は古墳時代前期後葉までの遺物の資料編である。
