Note (General): 辻花遺跡は、丘陵先端部の低地及び東側谷部に立地する、縄文時代から中世にかけての集落跡、散布地である。　調査では、縄文時代晩期のドングリ貯蔵用土杭や土器埋設遺構が発見され、包含層からは同時期の土器・石器がまとまって出土した。調査例の少ない県東部における縄文時代資料として貴重となる。　弥生時代は土杭、溝状遺構など集落の一部とともに、谷部では湿地との境に杭列、畦状遺構が構築され、まとまって出土した中期から後期土器は、出土状態から祭祀に関連があるとみられる。また包含層からは中期から古墳時代初頭の遺物が多く出土した。出土遺物には分銅形土製品など注目されるものもあり、当該期の土器様相を知るうえで良好な資料である。　中世は12～１５世紀の掘立建物などが検出され、才賀川に近接するまで居住域を拡大したことが確認された。　また木片、種実等の自然遺物が多く残存しており、これらに対して同定分析や年代測定等の自然科学分析を実施し、当時の古環境や埴生についての資料を得た。　　今回の調査は、丘陵部と才賀川に挟まれた低地や谷部における縄文時代から中世にかけての遺構状況を把握でき、当地域の低地遺跡の在り方を考えるうえで良好な資料となった。
