Note (General): 殿竹遺跡は目黒川の上流部である北沢川の源流域に展開する集落跡。今回の調査で旧石器時代の縦長剥片や焼礫がまとまって出土した。縄文時代の集落は今回の調査地点にまでは及ばないことが明らかとなった。同様に、弥生時代後期、古墳時代後期の集落も西側には広がらないことが判明した。中世以降はピット群が検出されたが、明確な間尺の建物跡の復元が不可能であり、柵列などのより簡易な区画施設が長期にわたり重複している可能性が高いが、調査範囲の関係でその規模や方向などは明確にできなかった。　これまでの１～４次調査の成果をまとめるとともに、目黒川流域の各時期別の遺跡動向を概観し、北沢上水（用水）について研究の現状についても簡単ながら触れている。
