現在、都市再開発や大深度法の制定によって、地下空間に大規模なトンネルや地下空洞が計画されており、従来の設計施工技術ではこれら地下構造物を安全かつ経済的に構築することが難しい現状にあると言える。本研究は、これまで申請者が蓄積してきたX線CT装置を用いた実験研究のノウハウと、その結果を定量的に評価する画像解析手法を用いることにより、トンネル切羽の三次元崩壊メカニズムの解明と各種補強技術のメカニズム評価、並びに、新しいトンネル切羽安定化技術を提案するものである。2年間の研究成果について、その実施内容を以下に列挙する。17年度：（１）Ｘ線ＣＴ専用のトンネル模型実験システムを構築した。（２）有効なＣＴ実験結果（ＣＴ画像）を作成するための画像解析システムを構築した。（３）構築した実験システムと画像解析システムを用いてトンネル切羽崩壊メカニズムの解明を行った。（４）上記（３）については、実応力レベルでの確認として遠心模型実験を実施し、これを確認した。（５）トンネル掘削技術に関する技術提案について実験結果を基に行った。18年度：（１）X線CT専用一面せん断試験装置を用いた、補助工法の効果の解明を行った。（２）X線CTと模型実験装置を併用した、トンネル補助工法の効果の解明を行った。（３）遠心模型実験による、（２）の実験結果の検証と定量的考察を行った。（４）17年度の成果と18年度の成果をまとめ、最終的にトンネル切羽安定化技術の一提案を行った。
