コンクリートの破壊現象に関して最近の問題点を考えれば、防災の対象となる地震災害の軽減化、事故等による衝撃的破壊や剥離崩落の防止、資源活用でのリサイクル骨材の製造など、いずれも破壊の制御が対象となっている。そこで、コンクート材料の破壊制御を、従来から多く見られる材料開発の研究ではなく、既設コンクリートを対象、非破壊的に監視と機構解明を行って破壊を制御する手法の開発を研究することにした。
