自己組織性分子から形成される繊維状会合体（分子ゲル）が一次元方向に成長し，相互に融合することでネットワーク構造を形成する。分子ゲルが形成するネットワークは，分子間相互作用による一次元的な配向会合体により形成されており，いわゆる高分子ゲルとは異なる興味深い構造や機能を発現する。本研究では，水中や有機溶媒中で分子ゲルを形成するグルタミド脂質を用い，分子ゲルネットワークをテンプレートとするナノメッシュの作製および分子センサーや分子認識素子，光電変換デバイスへの応用を目指した分子ゲル界面の機能化に関する基礎的研究を行った。
Self-assembled molecular gels have been recognized as promising materialsfor bottom-up nanofabrication tools in various fields. The glutamide-derived lipids formed moleculargel in both of aqueous and organic solutions. Their chiroptical properties and morphological featurescan be controlled by the chemical modifications of the lipid molecules. The lipid molecules with variousfunctional groups such as ionic and chromic groups were newly synthesized and the molecular gels fromthose lipids were characterized by spectroscopic measurements and microscopic observations. Toincrease the physical property of molecular gels, polymerization method and polymer compositemethod were applied. Furthermore, their morphological features and highly-oriented structures wereused as templates to create functional materials and devices for various applications such as molecularsensor, optical device and solar cell.
