This study was designed to compare the effect of chemical amendments to improve theShang-Yang soil in China, Which is heavily affected by salts. Improvements about chemicaland physical properties of saline-alkali soils were found to be ascribed to the reduction ofappeared to due to reduced pH, HC03 and C032 concentration, Na content, and the increasedCa availability in the soil, and to changes in colloidal structure leading to the improvedinfiltration rates.
