本報告は、1970年から87年までの日米の経済パフォーマンスに、国際マクロモデルの一つであるマンデル=フレミングモデルをあてはめた実証結果を示すものである。一般的なマンデル=フレミングモデルには、金利が世界市場で外生的に決定される小国モデルと2国間貿易と金利裁定を合む2国モデルの2つが知られている。ここでは、近年の日米間の経済関係の緊密さを考慮し、マンデル=フレミングの2国モデルを取り上げる。これまで産業研究所で開発されたモデル(KEOモデル)は1国モデルであり、貿易は輸入のみ内生変数扱いで輸出と為替レートは外生変数であった。これは、日本が経済的に小国であり、対海外変数に関しては世界市場での決定値を所与として行動してきた時代には適切な設定であったと思われる。しかし、近年の日本の経済力の拡大とそれにともなう対外経済影響力の増加を勘案するならば、このような設定に関して修正が必要となってきていることは否めない。特に、1980年代を迎えて日本経済において国内財に対する需要要因としての輸出の果たす役割がきわめて大きくなってきたこと、そしてそれが主としてアメリカ合衆国に対するものであったことから、対外変数、とくに合衆国の日本からの輸入および対ドル為替レートは内生的に決定されることが望ましいといえよう。このような問題意識から、以下では、KEOモデルのニューバージョンにおける対外経済面での拡張を目的とし、マンデル=フレミングモデルのロバストネスのチェックを試みていくことにしたい。
