S.ロッカンは欧州国民国家の形成およびその構造と社会的・攻治的クリーヴィッジの結びつきを論じた。今日のデンマークではロッカンの提示した伝統的クリーヴィッジの存在と影響力は弱まっているが、価値や規範に関する言説を援用した移民・難民政策は「新しい政治」に関連するクリーヴィッジを生んだ。デンマーク人有権者の学歴と政党選択の関係性は強まっており、デンマーク社会への被統合者である「新デンマーク人」間においては、新たな行為主体の台頭によって新左派と新右派の間の政治空間にクリーヴィッジが生じている。 S.Rokkan argued the linkage between European state and nation formation and social and political cleavages. These traditional cleavages become uninfluential on constituencies in present-day Denmark, however, new cleavages over"new politics"have arisen following the discursive immigrant/refugee policy. The connection of educational background with party affiliation has been strengthed. Concerning"new Danes", who are objects of integration policy, a new cleavage has been arisen in the political space that has emerged between"new left' postmodern issues on the one hand, and"new right"issues on the other.
