本研究では，直流高電圧の印加によって活発なジェット流を発生する機能性流体である電界共役流体を圧力源として用いた新たな柔軟生物型ロボットを開発した．はじめに，電界共役流体により内圧を制御できる柔軟な収縮セルを開発し，これを4個直列に配置したミミズ型ロボットを開発した．つぎに，ミミズのぜん動運動において，収縮する体節がミミズの前方から後方に順次伝播することに注目し，3つの収縮／膨張する体節を１ユニットとして，内部の液体を共用する新たなミミズ型ロボットを開発した．この結果，直径5mmのロボットにおいて内径6mmの管内を0.2mm/sで移動できることを明らかにした．
