発生部位の異なる（卵巣、子宮頸部、子宮内膜）明細胞腺癌およびそれらと類似した形態をなす妊娠時子宮内膜においてHNF1Bは高発現していたことから、HNF1Bが明細胞腺癌組織の形態を規定する因子であることが示唆された。また、卵巣明細胞腺癌におけるHNF1B発現量はその予後と比例していたことから、HNF1Bは明細胞腺癌における組織型特異的マーカーのみならずgrade分類マーカーとして利用できることが明らかとなった。
