高温環境下ではカテコラミン等の血管収縮物質による血管収縮が障害されるが、それは復温により改善される可逆的な変化であった。血管収縮障害を改善させる薬剤の同定には至らなかった。また、本現象に血管内皮の関与は否定的と考えられた。一方、加温刺激により血管が収縮するという現象も認められるが、本現象は細胞外カルシウムの関与はなく小胞体からのカルシウム動態が関与していることが示唆された。
