現代社会において問題視されている社会的ストレス、特に“いじめ”を想定したストレス実験系を構築した。それが与える影響さらには予防・治療法を解明していくことを目的とした。本ストレス負荷により海馬脳神経栄養因子（BDNF）とグルココルチコイドレセプター(GR)関連遺伝子の発現上昇と恐怖記憶の獲得（不安様症状）が起こることを突き止めた。本ストレス負荷によるBDNFmRNA発現上昇を伴った不安は柴胡加竜骨牡蠣湯で改善できる可能性を示した。
