SOD1 K/OヘテロK/Oマウスという酸化ストレスに弱いマウスを使い、様々な方法で脂肪化、線維化、発癌を惹起し、抗酸化剤の抑制効果を検討した．その結果、脂肪化の進展と線維化は相関しないこと、SOD1活性の低下に連れて肝細胞傷害が惹起すること、肝内の抗酸化酵素は特定の酵素活性が弱くなるとそれを補うように他の酵素活性が上昇する「補填効果」を生ずることが示唆された．またDEN濃度による多方向性分化細胞の存在が認められた．今後ホモK/Oマウス供給の目処がたちSOD-1の作用についてはさらに明らかになる予定である．
