現在の半導体技術は、バンド端変調とバンドギャップ制御という2つの要素技術を組み合わせたバンドエンジニアリングにより発展したが、次世代のバンドエンジニアリングとして外部からの入力により動的にバンドを制御することがその一つとなると考えられる。そこで、本研究では、カーボンナノチューブに注目して、(a)電界によるバンド端変調と(b)応力によるバンドギャップ制御という外部入力による連続可変なバンドエンジニアリングを構築を行った。
