オートファジーは、真核生物がもつ細胞内分解系の一つであり、ほ乳動物においては、飢餓適応・細胞内品質管理・生体防御などさまざまな生理的役割を果たしていることが近年明らかとなった。しかしながらその制御機構については未だ不明な点が多い。本研究課題では、自然免疫系とオートファジーの相互制御機構について研究を行った。その結果、これまで自然免疫系で働くアダプター分子と考えられてきたタンパク質TAB2, TAB3が基底レベルのオートファジーを負に制御することが明らかとなった。
