コモンマーモセット頸髄損傷モデルに対しヒト組み換え肝細胞増殖因子蛋白(recombinant human hepatocyte growth factor; rhHGF)をくも膜下腔持続投与することにより著明な運動機能回復促進効果が得られることを明らかとした. 組織学的にも有意な損傷範囲縮小効果を確認することが出来た. またアロディニアや腫瘍形成を認めず安全性についても確認できたことから, 本研究結果はrhHGFを用いた脊髄損傷治療が臨床応用へ結びつく可能性を示すものと考えている.
