シアリダーゼは細胞表面の糖鎖構造を修飾し、癌細胞の浸潤・転移能と関連することが知られている。本研究では、シアリダーゼが卵巣癌腹膜播種形成に与える影響につき検討を行った。各種ヒト卵巣癌細胞株において高率にシアリダーゼを発現していることが確認され、シアリダーゼをノックダウンまたは阻害剤にて機能を抑制することにより、腹膜播種形成の抑制が可能であった。本研究により、シアリダーゼが卵巣癌腹膜播種の新しい治療的ターゲットとなりうる可能性が示された。
