我々はマウス卵巣高転移モデルを樹立し、モデルを用いた検討から、E-cadherinの発現低下が卵巣特異的転移に関与していることを示した。さらに、転移性卵巣腫瘍症例における臨床病理学的検討により、E-cadherinの発現低下が転移性卵巣腫瘍における卵巣間質の増殖と有意な相関を示すことを明らかとした。胃癌など卵巣から遠隔の臓器からの転移において、E-cadherinの発現低下および、癌細胞と卵巣間質細胞との間の癌・間質相互作用は促進的に働くと考えられた。
