被爆者調査史研究・原爆忌調査・米国調査を通して、原爆被害の記憶の、被爆者から戦後世代への継承の実態を調査した。その結果、この継承にともなって、戦後、原爆被害の記憶を規定してきた「唯一の被爆国日本」「核廃絶」「反核平和」などの支配的パラダイムは依然として強力であるものの、次第にその力が弱まり、このパラダイムにかならずしも規定されない多様な継承の仕方が現れてきていることが明らかとなった。
