近年, ナノマイクロマシーン技術が注目され, これまでにないセンサーやアクチュエータの開発が進み, 幅広い分野でその利用が期待されている. 本研究ではナノマイクロマシーンの重要な基本要素の一つであるカンチレバー(片持ち梁)の特性をコントロールする手法を提案した. このときカンチレバー自体が持つ非線形性によるダイナミクスへの影響やその非線形特性の積極的な利用により, カンチレバーの高機能化(たとえば振幅を自在に制御すること)が可能であることを理論的並びに実験的に明らかにした.
