本研究では真空蒸着やスピンコート等の従来のトップダウン的な分子集合体・薄膜作製法とは異なり、分子レベルからのボトムアップ型の集合体構築に焦点を当て、ドナー分子であるポルフィリン層が外層、アクセプター分子であるフラーレン誘導体が内層というフラーレン内包型ポルフィリンナノロッドの構築を行った。その結果、光電変換機能の系統的発現が観測され、実際に高い光電変換特性が観測された。
