イノシトール三リン酸受容体(IP3R)の3種のサブタイプのうち、1型および3型IP3Rを同時に欠損させたダブルノックアウト(1/3DKO)マウスは心臓血管発生異常をきたす。組織マーカーの発現解析と組織特異的1/3DKOマウスの解析により、1型・3型IP3Rは、右心室から心臓流出路の発生において二次心臓領域のうちTbx1非発現領域で機能すると考えられた。さらに、血管内皮細胞に発現する1型・3型IP3Rは、血管発生において血管新生の過程に必須の役割を担うことが示唆された。
