術後7日目の生存率は高用量群では73%でありコントロール群33%に比べて有意に改善したが(p=0.037), 低用量群では生存率の改善は認めなかった. 低用量群やコントロール群では術後4時間における血清HMGB1値が高値を示したが, 高容量群では有意にその上昇が抑制されていた(p0.05). また, 高用量群では術後8時間におけるクレアチニンやBUNの上昇が他の2群に比し, 有意に軽度であった(p0.05). 肺組織像の検討に関しては, コントロール群でみられた高度な肺の炎症性変化がガンマグロブリン投与群では軽微であった. 高用量ガンマグロブリン製剤はラット敗血症モデルの生存率を有意に改善した. この生存率の改善は低用量群では認められないものであった. また, その機序として血清HMGB1値の抑制が関与していることが示唆された.
