今までに我々はDC-STAMPのノックアウトマウスの解析により、破骨細胞の細胞融合に必須の分子であることが分かっている。今回、DC-STTAMPの過剰発現マウスを作成することによって、DC-STAMPは破骨細胞特異的に骨量を制御し、またDC-STAMPの機能を抑制する事で、破骨細胞による骨吸収抑制と骨芽細胞の活性上昇の両面から、骨量を増加させることが可能となる事が示唆された。
