われわれは、マウスを用いて、活性酸素除去能、オートファジーに代表される維持機構の状態が内耳恒常性維持に関与することを見出した。OGGと呼ばれる活性酸素除去能が低下したマウスに対して音響外傷を与えたところ、対照群と比較して内耳有毛細胞の障害が強かった。また、オートファジー7コンディショナルノックアウトマウスにおいて、内耳有毛細胞のせん毛が消失しており、有毛細胞維持にcriticalな因子であると考えられた。加齢変化を示すTBL-1ノックアウトマウスについては現在検討中である。
