本研究では, マルチメディアコンテンツを中心に構成されたe-learning教材において, 視聴者が見落とすべきでない重要箇所を特定して視聴可能にするための技術の確立を目指した. この目的のため, e-learning教材の過去の視聴履歴から, 特徴的な視聴パタン等を抽出し, コンテンツの重要箇所等を推定し, その結果に基づいて構成された, 学習効果の高いコンテンツを自動生成するための要素技術の究明を進めた. 学習者にとって重要な部分は各自異なる可能性があるが, 互いに似た学習者はいくつかのグループに分かれると予想される. このため, 学習者を適切にクラスタ分けする手法や属性に関する究明も進めた.
