ピリミジンアルデヒド誘導体とジイソプロピル亜鉛との反応により、不斉アルコール類が合成されるSoai反応において、自発的にランダムに高光学純度の生成物が生成される機構について検討を行なった。その結果、ピリミジンアルデヒド誘導体の芳香族環にイソプロピル基が直接付加する副反応が競争的に振る舞い、生成物が高収率および高光学純度となる場合と、低収率および低光学純度となる場合に分岐することを見いだした。この分岐現象について詳細に考察するため、非線形動力学モデルの構築を試みた。
