車両衝突時に乗員を保護するための装置の性能をさらに向上させるための研究を行った. 特に, リハビリが長期間にわたり必要となる乗員下肢の損傷を防ぐための保護装置について検討した. 車両衝突時からラップベルトとニーボルスターで前方への移動を抑制される過程で乗員特性は変化し, この状態に応じたラップベルトおよびニーボルスターの制御が必要となることを示した.また, ニーボルスターの制御にはセミアクティブ制御を施し, 実装のための基礎データを得た.
