ウロモジュリン遺伝子変異による家族性若年性高尿酸血症性腎症(FJHN)の病態モデルであるヒト変異ウロモジュリン遺伝子トランスジェニックマウスを作出して、FJHN の病態メカニズムについて検討した。病態モデルマウスの腎臓ではSrd5a2遺伝子転写亢進に伴う腎内アンドロゲン作用の増加により、腎嚢胞形成と腎障害(腎症)の原因となるCyp4a12a遺伝子の転写亢進と、高尿酸血症の原因となるSlc22a12遺伝子の転写亢進が生じていることが明らかになった。
