心筋梗塞後の過剰な炎症反応は、その後の心機能の低下や不良な生命予後と関連することが知られている。しかしながら炎症反応を制御する機構の詳細は明らかにされていない。本研究では、骨髄由来の樹状細胞が梗塞後のマクロファージや炎症性単球による過剰な炎症反応を抑制し、細胞外マトリックスの分解を抑制するとともにアポトーシスも軽減し、梗塞後の左室機能を保持する役割を有することが明らかとなった。
