脳梗塞患者の血清中に増加するサイトカインの細胞内情報伝達の系の1つであるJAK-STAT系には多くの分子が関与している。その中でStat3が最も注目されており、脳梗塞治療の標的になる可能性が考えられた。我々は急性期脳虚血モデルでStat3のリン酸化が神経保護に関与していることを証明し、他の研究グループでも神経保護作用を証明してきた。本研究では薬剤を用いて慢性期脳虚血におけるStat3の役割について検討を進めたものの、有意な効果を証明することはできず、現時点では脳梗塞の治療戦略の候補とはならないものと考えられた。
